GolfBearcat golfers miss national tournament by one stroke MOORESVILLE, N.C. - The Lander golf team missed making its second straight appearance in the NCAA national tournament by one stroke Wednesday afternoon when the No. 21-ranked Bearcats finished fifth in the three-day, three-round Southeast Regional Tournament held at the par-72 Point Lake and Golf Club. Combined in a super region with the South Atlantic Regional, the winner of each region and the top three remaining teams, regardless of region, advance to the national tournament. Georgia College & State University won the Southeast Region with an 8-over-par 872, and Belmont Abbey won the South Atlantic regional with an 889. The three top remaining teams, all from the Southeast Region are: 2. USC Aiken 885, 3. Newberry 891 and 4. Clayton State 901. Lander finished at 902, followed by 6. Carson-Newman 910, 7.
